The Overview

What a sunrise…a fitting opening to the last day of July. Yes – there is one month of pure summer left to enjoy even though Summer officially ends late September. With schools reopening, there will be a certain level of shock that students will experience having been out of school for 6 months. An unprecedented break in our lifetime. July has been a wonderful month – just enough rain to keep the woods damp, but lots of sun to enjoy your favourite sport – golf. We now cast our eyes forward into August and wonder what it will bring. Certainly it will bring Ragweed. And possibly rain early Sunday. Otherwise, we are in fore sunshine and more sunshine.

The UV Index

The UV index is VERY HIGH today – starting with a beautiful sunrise, but sliding down the horizon a wee bit every day and thereby reducing the burn power.

Allergy Index

The Allergy Index is MODERATE. WE are headed into August – and the rag weed is awakening. The mold index is HIGH – careful with the fresh fruit on the counter!

The Bug Index

The Bug Report – the rating is MODERATE – everywhere but near trees and in the shade. There we are fair game fore the deer flies. The mosquitoes seem to enjoy dining sociably late.

Sunrise

Sunrise – 6:02AM, Sunset – 8:44PM. Sunshine time is slipping away 2 minutes per day. It is time to make life happen……

The Fire index

Fire Index –the index is LOW in our area – understandable with the recent rain. And we are likely to get just enough rain in August to have a quiet forest fire season.

Course Update

Like our two golfers at 630 this morning, we wonder – what would it be like if it was this temp all day? It certainly would encourage walking on the course. But it is keeping the bug population around. Mosquitoes at night, deer flies during the day. Our natural defense is the winds – and they have been a constant this season as well.
