The Overview

So this is what a chinook feels like – a rapid rise in temperature and change in precipitation. The temperature soared overnight – and here we thought the furnace had failed! The heavy rain will start around 4PM and continue through to noon tomorrow. This front will be pushed out by cold, leaving the trailing edge of the precip as freezing rain and then snow before noon tomorrow. March – here you go – pulling wet and warm from your bag of weather tricks just to slam it shut with snow!

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at +9C(+7C) and it hold at +10 (FL+8C) in the afternoon and then slip to +4C (FL +1C). So this is what a Chinook feels like!
Today the winds are from the South at 10kph bringing warmer rain to the region. They will swing back to the North mid-day tomorrow picking up speed to the 20kph. This will bring a slight chill back to the region for a wee while.

Course Update

There are 31 days til green grass – but this rain could bring out the green sooner. Golf is so close – the heart will be racing knowing green grass is starting to appear. We are constantly asked about our highway sign as people use it as a harbinger of Spring. The heat and rain will knock-down the snow-pack and the sun’s heat will penetrate the cloud cover. The winds will be lifting the moisture formed in the melt to speed the shrinkage. It will be interesting to see what we look like on Tuesday after 2 days of warm, wind and sun. Your clubs will know this and will want to hit a ball. Do you? Is your game ready for the golf season? We know you are getting restless to golf with your friends. The golf bug bite will continue to itch and needs to be scratched. While getting warmer, it is still not warm enough to get outside and play. Nothing beats a few holes of golf with your family. The hi-def indoor simulator is operating and ready fore you and your foursome. Or bring 8 and play a two-person scramble with 4 teams. It is time to start getting the swing in shape fore opening day, or before you might be headed South fore a golf trip. We will clean up the rust on your first swings as part of the deal! Call the clubhouse 7056461060 to book your time.

We are trying to bring Spring along by applying black sand on the snow covering the greens. This will use the power of the sun to penetrate the snow-pac and expose the greens to sunlight and the breezes after their 4 months of darkness.

The Simulator is Open!

The Dogs

Dog Update –Wizard graduated this week from the Autism Assist Program with a young man who lives in Belleville. They are truly a great fit. We met Wizard’s sponsors – the lassies who operate Green Capes – a magazine published with puppies as pics – a great buy -from any Lion Club. We were pleased that Wiz was very happy to see us. The only tears shed were the ones listening to the stories of the impact these dogs have on the entire families’ lives. They are as important to the caregiver as they are to their direct client. Well done Wizard – you are off to a great career! I did warn them that if he saw a golf cart, he would likely try to sneak onto the passenger seat.

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – weddings@muskokahighlands.com. We will work with you to make your day special.
