The Overview

We are into what we might consider a normal winter cycle. Chill temps blowing across GBay picking up moisture, transforming it into snow and delivering it to points East – yes – Muskoka. We are in for a few days of streamer activity. There is a special weather statement to this effect. Keep the shovels handy and the blowers fueled. If it’s any consolation, it is 7C (FL6C) this morning in mid-Florida.

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at -1C(FL -6C) and it will stay at -1C (FL -7C) in the afternoon and then drop to -8C (FL -13C) overnight. Perfect snow streamer temps.

The winds are from the NW at about 15kph gradually gaining to 25kph until around 8PM when they subside to 15kph. Early Tuesday they will move to the SW and then the South before going back to the NW at around the 10kph.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 7:55AM, Sunset – 4:50PM. The day is lengthening by seconds daily – we have gained 70 seconds of daylight since Winter Solstice. The sun starts setting later – by 4 seconds every day on average. The sun will rise about the same time. Around Jan 8th, the rate of change will increase and the sun will rise earlier, and set later through til June. Yay!

Road Report

As this large front clears to the East, the plows are working hard to keep the roads open and safe. Let them work. They will be working hard over the next few days with streamers being random and frequent.

School Bus Status

School bus report – no cancellations at this point – but this does change so check back before heading out to the bus!
