The Overview

So this is Summer 2019. It is a chill morning, leading into a beautiful sunny day. As we warm to normal temps, we will be pushing the cold wall north and this collision could bring rain. Today we might see the odd pop-up shower. The unknown is the effect of GBay on the front headed towards us from the south-west. The big rain happens overnight with a front moving through as we sleep, leaving a clear day tomorrow. We are headed towards Summer temps this week which will herald a hot long Canada-Day weekend!

The Weather Network has released its Summer Forecast and it is a result of the  cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay meeting the warm air closer to us. This will give us unstable weather fore the summer months. But there will be lots of good times included – with some intense bursts coming through.

Today's Temps

Our opening temperature starts at 9C(FL 9C)  and will warm to 24C (FL 26C) in the afternoon  and then down to 17C (FL 16C) overnight. Pretty predictable?

The UV Index

The UV index is medium today with partly sunny skies.

Pollen Index

The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be loving this. Honey production should be strong.

The Weather Dog (Replaces the Weather Stone!)

The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – Dry belly = no dew which implies rain is out there somewhere!

The Bug Index

Who loves this weather? The bugs! The wet weather provides perfect breeding grounds for these wee raptors. Only not as much at Muskoka Highlands if the ever-present breeze is blowing!

The Fire index

The Fire Index is Medium but this map shows that we are finally starting to dry. It reflects the impact of Hudson Bay weather dominating Quebec and Ontario. The forest rangers in our area can relax – no sign of dry bush anytime soon.

Course Update

The weather roller coaster is taking us into Summer. The heat is growing grass where Old Man Winter desiccated it. The tall rough is taller than ever with the wet start. We are dealing with it now. The week ahead will be great. The Webers index is predicting a busy week.
