You might be wondering about the Irwin family on the cover – they have played here since we opened – so George is the patriarch – and loving every minute of the family visits that happen throughout the summer months. True Muskoka!!
Nice to not hear the volunteer fire crew sirens in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Muskoka Lakes fore a couple of days. They need the rest. Unpaid and unheralded, you have withstood a gruelling test – and are to be congratulated for your dedication and execution in difficult conditions.
The Weather Network has released its Summer Forecast and it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay meeting the warm air closer to us. This will give us unstable weather fore the summer months. But there will be lots of good times included – with some intense bursts coming through.
Our opening temperature starts at 20C(FL22) and will warm to 25C (FL 30C) in the afternoon and then down to 16C (FL 16C) overnight. Memorable Muskoka Summer! You are only 20 minutes away with Porter Airlines!
The UV Index
The UV index is HIGH from sunrise to sunset.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be loving this. Honey production should be strong.
The Weather TopDress Dog (Replaces the Weather Stone!)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – damp belly = damp grass.
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is LOW with the mosquitoes still hanging in there. The deer flies are making their appearance – and so the onslaught continues. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most winged raptors away from you while you are golfing!
The Fire index
The Fire Index is HIGH in this hot dry weather. Amazingly, the province looks pretty wet and at little risk. It is still time to be careful with our use of outside fires to reflect this changeable condition.
A shoutout to Denver Dafoe – Friday – 830PM 5 green repairs – a smile. Well done Champ!!
The final round of The Open is on early – great breakfast television from Ireland. Break out the Guiness and toast Royal Port Rush! And what weather they are having!! With their early tee times, you could easily catch the morning rounds and hit the links by noon. Just mention “The Open” and get a 10% discount on your golf rate (carts not included – golf is a walking sport in Ireland!). The cool mornings are great fore walking your round.
Golf Hint fore today – If you want to reflect golf in Ireland, try using Match Play as your format – hole won – move to the next tee. This speeds up the game. We play 18 holes in 2.5 hours on a normal day. If you have just a couple of hours, we have a 12 hole rate. Play early. Play ready golf. If your ball is likely lost, drop one close to where it went into the long stuff and play on (adding one extra stroke for the hole).
