This weather might be the best of both worlds fore us. Hot during the day, and then cool overnight – but not too cool. The heavy fog is actually outside of your eyes and will burn off as the sun gets higher in the sky. There is no active weather anywhere on any radar. Hydration will be the challenge – keeping the water bottle full and handy is a must for anyone working outside today. This is the weather we longed to have back in May and June – it is here! Let’s enjoy it to the fullest!
The Weather Network has released its Summer Forecast and it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay meeting the warm air closer to us. This will give us unstable weather fore the summer months. But there will be lots of good times included – with some intense bursts coming through.
Our opening temperature starts at 14C(FL 14C) and will warm to 28C (FL 32C) in the afternoon and then down to 15C (FL 15C) overnight. It continues to be a hot week!
The UV Index
The UV index is HIGH from sunrise to sunset.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be loving this. Honey production should be strong.
The Weather Dog (Replaces the Weather Stone!)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – wet belly = wet grass.
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is high with the blackflies and the mosquitoes both in season. The warmer temps will eliminate more of them as we play bug free fore the most part. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most winged raptors away from you while you are golfing!
The Fire index
The Fire Index is moving with the temps – going from low to MODERATE in this hot dry weather. While we are still relatively damp at ground level, now is the time to adjust our use of outside fires to reflect this changing condition.
With another hot day on the horizon, it might be best to play your round early in the day, or later in the afternoon. The roll has returned to Muskoka Highlands and the firm turf is giving a bit more yardage to those shots. Take lots of water with you – and we have more when you need it. Hats are back in style during the day.
Golf Hint fore today – Summer daytime heat is increasing so picking the right time of day to play is important. We recognize that time is a key element fore the next 60 days of summer. Time to play, time for the dock – a delicate balance. We play 18 holes in 2.5 hours on a normal day. If you have just a couple of hours, we have a 12 hole rate. Play early. Play ready golf. If your ball is likely lost, drop one close to where it went into the long stuff and play on (adding one extra stroke for the hole).
