The Overview

Nothing says Spring like the Peepers – and they are serenading this morning on the pond behind our house. With Spring comes changeable weather – and we are getting it. This wet will clear this morning, but another wet wave is coming through overnight. Thursday morning could see snow in our region when the front clears before we rise. We will just enjoy the sounds of Spring if we cannot see the sun today. Maybe by the weekend we will get back to better weather. This will keep us inside a bit more. And into dry isolation. It is a demanding job – isolation. Likely nobody is in shape for it except maybe the astronauts who train for this. Everyone will remember it is not a normal Spring day. It is one to be enjoyed in our bubbles. We happen to have a 155 acre bubble on which we live, so we will walk about, sharing at a distance from others. Hendrik will want to get out and explore. He can socialize with you if you meet us on the course. We will be 2 metres away. This marathon continues – this is not a sprint. The more we lock-down, the tougher it is for the virus to find a new host to continue the spread. But sitting in a house all day is also not healthy. Exercise and a change of scenery is still part of our psyche. So we find our safe ways to get outside and smiling. Remain committed to self-isolation with a reasonable edge. We are blessed that there is lots of room in PSM for walking and other activities. Maintain your mental health. Help others keep theirs. Keep an eye on your neighbour – especially if they are elderly (remember – there are more Canadians over 65 than under 16).

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at 4C(FL 4C) and will warm to 8C (FL 7C) in the afternoon and then chill to 2C (FL -2C) overnight. Riding the chill northerly winds over the next couple of days. The UV index is LOW with cloud most of day. The westerly breeze will ramp up to 17kph later today. Through the night the speed will increase to over 20kph (closer to 30kph in the afternoon) and the direction will head from the North/NW for tomorrow – hence the drop in temps. 200408wi

Course Update

We walk on your course and so do our neighbours – at a distance. Soon we will be into more maintenance. Mitch has cut all of the greens – and they are responding with wonderful green stripes. The cart paths are very dry so walking is a nice treat. We will have the course in shape fore your first visit. We thank you for not golfing on your own – there is a serious fine being levied to those at other courses who have tried this. We will be golfing soon – virus free! We have been finding lots of golf balls in the roughs – they are popping to the surface of the matted fescue. Not many are Titleist balls. Which means that fewer Titleist have been lost than the other brands. Nothing says new golf season like a new batch of golf balls. We have our e-commerce portal where you can purchase the 4 4 3 Titleist ProV brand of golf balls as a Spring Special. We also have Callaway with the same offer at this time. Golf ebooks will be on our site by week’s end. If you can’t actually golf, you can read about golf. And if you want to mentally play the course, you are welcome to pre-pay some rounds and dream that you are using them every day!

Are you of age less than 40? Ask about our graduated member programs. $10 per year under 26, $20 x age til you are 40. We know you need to keep some cash for living – so we have made this as affordable as possible. Call us – we will confirm this.

Think outside the normal golf tournament box. We have great options involving FootGolf and LawnBowling that can involve the non-golfer in your event! Call us – we some unique concepts.
Determination and hard work will make you a better player. A lesson helps! Let us know – we have great programs from the beginner to the player.

Course Wildlife - not the ones on the carts!

Golf courses are a nature preserve where we get all sorts of animals cruising about. You never know what you will see – keep the camera ready! With the ponds just about clear of ice, these creatures will be cruising the course – talk about slow play!!

The Dogs

Hendrik likes this view. He is loyal and stays around home. He keeps our Cortisol (stress levels) in check and fore this we are grateful. With the ponds now open, he is quite happy to watch any activity on them.

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail. But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside. Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – weddings@muskokahighlands.com. We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
Muskoka Highlands is committed to your safety while you enjoy your game. Please read our COVID procedures BEFORE booking your Tee TimeLearn More
