The Overview

The radar remains clear through today – that is the short term. However, there is rain moving in early Saturday morning around 6AM, getting a bit intense around 9AM and then clearing out around 11AM. Sunday looks clear. There is a counter-rotating low that seems to dissipate as we get closer to Sunday. We will hear reports of snow in the mid-west and Manitoba – but it does not make it this far.

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at +6C(FL+3C) and it will rise to 18C (FL 17C) in the afternoon and down to 9C (FL +6C) overnight. Jack Frost has left the building.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 7:28AM, Sunset – 6:38PM – Daylight is like a good dentist – we don’t really feel it being removed. Plan to golf before noon at this time of the year.

Pollen Index

The Pollen Index is high –the golden rod remains ever present. The tall grasses are shedding their seeds in the winds. I just need to play golf with a certain friend and his eyes set the rating.

The Weather Wizard (Soon to be Dog Guide Fore an Autistic Person)

The weather dog blew in from his morning patrol –  dry belly, and dry head. Oct 15th he heads back to be trained to be with an autistic person.

The Colours index

The Colours index is HIGH with the tree canopy changing nicely. It is great to see the change without having to play in the fallen leaves – only at Muskoka Highlands. These temps will accelerate the painting of our landscape.

Course Update

Golf is a business to over 2200 courses across Canada. We work hard to deliver great playing conditions in a friendly atmosphere. Some years Mother Nature has a different plan – and we struggle to get to excellent fore you. We would like to have you play more golf – it is healthy as we hear so much about walking. What better place to walk than a golf course. I was so impressed playing Lambton yesterday – full course – no power carts in sight! And they have a few heart-start hills! We will stretch this season as long as we can fore you. You are important to us – we will prove it – every day. Just like life.

A golf course is built on dirt, but survives on its reputation. Our reputation is for great greens and Mother Nature takes care of the fairways. Our new Super – Mitch Guy says that our fairways remind him of Scotland – where grass is not necessarily everywhere on the course. Players play in whatever condition they meet when they get to the first tee. We are in this together. And this is where we put our reputation. The ultimate compliment any course can get is from you – the player – your second (and third and..) round at the course. We thank you fore this.

Safety Hint – these temps are going to set up the roads for black ice. Drive carefully in the dark! The paving is getting done – yay!!

Membership Has Its Advantages

We are asked about Membership at Muskoka Highlands.

Here are our Laddies – just ask them how much fun it is to golf at the Highlands!

This year we brought in the “multiply your age x $10” and that is your membership if you are less than 27 years old. We have a variation on that for the next decade – 28-37.

We have a variety of Membership options fore you – and if there isn’t one that works, let’s chat. We are creative and like to cater to needs where possible.

Carts are not necessary on our course – we are a walking course. But there are cart packages available.

We are an 18 hole course – and we have to maintain 18 holes. When we are asked about our 9 hole membership being a bit more expensive, it is because we have to maintain all 18 holes for your to have the ability to choose to play the front or the back.

Not sure about how much you will play? Buy our 12 fore 10 pack – pay for 10 – get 12 – fully transferable passes – 9 or 18 holes, carts also.

Juniors and Youth – a great deal – up til you are 25, you add a zero to your age – and bingo – there is your membership fee.

25-45 – Muliply your age x $20 and add HST – bingo – there is your membership fee.

To be fair – we stopped there, because $30 x age over 45 gets a bit more expensive!!

The Tombstone

The Tombstone is Saturday November 2nd.

A novel way to find out if you are playing to your potential. You take your handicap, add it to 69 and these are the strokes you have to play the round. When you run out of strokes, you plant your Tombstone. The course becomes a golf-graveyard, and the humour abounds.

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – weddings@muskokahighlands.com. We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
