The Overview

We get this weather forecast every 4 years – so it is a treat !!
That was some day yesterday. A reminder that we are still technically in Winter. Today will be a lighter weather day still windy but little to no new snow. The roads will be back to black with the help of the sun and the trails will be great for running – motorized or gravity pulled. The warmer air from the South will bring rain early Monday. We will see what this does to the white cover. Wiarton Willie is nervously awaiting Spring – is he right?

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at -21C(-30C) and it will hold at -10C (FL-16C) in the afternoon and then slip to -19C (FL -24C). Is this Old Man Winter’s final punch?
The chill winds will spend the day from the NW in the 15kph range. The snow streamers will become more random. Overnight the winds will shift to the South bringing back comparatively warmer air and likely rain on Monday.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 6:56AM, Sunset – 6:04PM. Gotta love the line up of 6s that will carry us for the next few weeks! The sun and wind will work their magic now getting us closer to Spring. March 17th – equinox.

Road Report

Road report – The roads south and west of Parry Sound Muskoka are showing as snow covered with plows out everywhere. The plows are quiet north of Orillia, and the roads show as black. Travelling should be better today – nothing can be worse than getting from Orillia to Newmarket yesterday! Secondary routes will likely be tracked black with snow in between until we get into warmer temps . The plows are all out – and as my friend in the road maintenance business says – give us sun, salt and traffic – the roads will be fine. Now let’s find a friendlier version of salt!

School Bus Status

School bus report – all quiet in the bus barn fore the weekend

Snowmobile Report

Snowmobile Trail Update – OFSC is reporting 27174 km of open trails. This new snow will provide some relief and has reopened some trails. But most of the sledding will have to happen in the North for March. As the Jamaican bobsled team said – it will be cool runnin today!

Ski Report

The Ski Hills are still in good shape with nearly all runs and lifts open. Chilly but fun skiing. The bases look good which should carry them into Spring Break. Detailed info at

Course Update

There are 40 days til green grass. This new snow will melt under the pressure of the sun. The winds will be lifting the moisture formed in the melt to speed the shrinkage. Your clubs will know this and will want to hit a ball. Do you? Is your game ready for the golf season? We know you are getting restless to golf with your friends. The golf bug bite will continue to itch and needs to be scratched. While getting warmer, it is still not warm enough to get outside and play. Nothing beats a few holes of golf with your family. The hi-def indoor simulator is operating and ready fore you and your foursome. Or bring 8 and play a two-person scramble with 4 teams. Times are full today so book now for tomorrow! It is time to start getting the swing in shape fore opening day, or before you might be headed South fore a golf trip. Call the clubhouse 7056461060 to book your time.

The grass will be glad it has its snow covering in this chill. The melt has started to expose green grass. Old Man Winter got grumpy and decided to hide this grass – but this is only temporary.

The Simulator is Open!

When the golf bug bites and you can’t find a tee deck open anywhere, what do you do? You head to Muskoka Highlands where we have a state of the art hi-def simulator at the ready fore your game. A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
