The Overview

Do you recognize the lad at the top of this load of hay? Do you know what golf hole is directly behind the wagon? Let us know the answers – playgolf@muskokahighlands.com .
The radar is clear as is the sky – meaning no snow but chilly. With the wind direction, we will be seeing a moderating temperature range over the next few days. There is a snow front headed up the Ohio Valley and this will hit well north of us late tomorrow. We are likely to see it in Parry Sound Muskoka sometime later Thursday. The roads are all good but the winds around GBay are double what we feel inland, so blowing snow could be a challenge for travel. In chatting with someone in Cincinnati, he mentioned that the robins were back there already. What do they know that we don’t?

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at -24C(FL -24C) and it will rise to -3C (FL-9C) in the afternoon and then drop slightly to -5C (FL -11C) overnight. The big chill is packing its suitcase to leave.

The winds start as a light breeze at 7kph from the WSW and increase to 20kph before noon, holding that speed fore the rest of the day. They are double that speed over GBay. Tomorrow they will move to the SSW maintaining speeds over 10kph. This is ideal fore more snow off GBay, but the radar is seeing nothing before Thursday.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 7:48AM, Sunset – 5:09PM. We have gained 126 seconds of daylight since Winter Solstice. 59 days to Spring Equinox – March 20th.

Road Report

Road report – Some plows are out throughout Ontario for routine maintenance. There is no snow so travel should be fine in most areas. The winds around GBay could bring blowing snow in open sections of highways.

School Bus Status

School bus report – no cancellations as the radar is clear. Bundle up – it is cold out there.

Snowmobile Report

Snowmobile Trail Update – OFDC is reporting over 12000 km of open trails much of this further north. The trails are open around Algonquin Park and this circle of running is expanding. More trails will open as we can expect more snow later in the week.
There are 79 days til green grass. You are headed into your daily routine which, in the summer, would have included a few holes of golf at some point. The golf bug bite needs to be scratched. You can play those holes today. The hi-def indoor simulator is operating and ready fore you and your foursome. Keep the banter going all winter. Now is the time to start getting the swing in shape fore opening day, or before you might be headed South fore a golf trip. Call the clubhouse 7056461060 to book your time.

This new snow is a welcome blanket fore the course to protect the unpredictable nature events that are dominating the weather landscape. This will help with protection of the playing surfaces until the Spring melt.
