Mother Nature has the air conditioning on this morning with single digit temps. And going back into the mid-20’s for the day, in sunshine, will make this a day to be active outside. The radars remain clear through to Wednesday. This will dry the bug hatcheries, but more importantly the surrounding brush. Hydration remains a key word to remember – and water is the best hydrator.
The Weather Network has released its Summer Forecast and it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay meeting the warm air closer to us. This will give us unstable weather fore the summer months. But there will be lots of good times included – with some intense bursts coming through.
Our opening temperature starts at 8C(FL 8C) and will warm to 26C (FL 27C) in the afternoon and then down to 15C (FL 14C) overnight. Great growing temps.
The UV Index
The UV index is HIGH from sunrise to sunset.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be loving this. Honey production should be strong.
The Weather Dog (Replaces the Weather Stone!)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – damp belly = damp grass.
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is MEDIUM with the blackflies and the mosquitoes both being able to come back from their chill hiding spots. The warmer temps will eliminate some of their breeding bases. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most winged raptors away from you while you are golfing!
The Fire index
The Fire Index is moving with the temps and absence of rain – going from low to MODERATE in this warm dry weather. The local hot zones on the map have re-appeared. Now is the time to adjust our use of outside fires to reflect this changing condition.
The cool mornings and the warm afternoons make it great to play golf at any time today. The roll has returned to Muskoka Highlands and the firm turf is giving a bit more yardage to those shots. Take lots of water with you – and we have more when you need it. Hats are back in style during the day.
