The Overview

Yesterday was a great day fore golf. Today is even better. And tomorrow ditto. Rain will arrive overnight on Monday and clear through early Tuesday. Now is the time to get those couple of golf rounds in knowing the weather will change, and the Fall chores will need to be done. It is October and this is October weather.

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at 4C(FL 2C) and it will rise to +15C (FL +15C) in the afternoon and down to +4C (FL +1C) overnight. A warmer reprieve through Wednesday – but then the weather roller coaster heads down the other side.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 7:40AM, Sunset – 6:23PM – Does 8PM feel like Muskoka Midnight yet? Plan to golf before noon at this time of the year.

Pollen Index

The Pollen Index remains medium – as the golden rod starts to die back. The cooler weather will control the allergies. Those allergic to cold weather have already planned to move to warmer climes. Tis that time of the year.

The Colours index

The Colours index is MEDIUM-LOW with the tree canopy changing past its prime show in our area. The chatter about always raking has begun. It is great to see the change without having to play in the fallen leaves – only at Muskoka Highlands.

Course Update

Golf is a game of chances – and chance to hole the ball, or keep putting., Once every year, we set the pins where nobody wanted to see them. We put out 80 players who want this challenge with the chance to go low. When -4 is the winning score fore a 2 man scramble, then you know the chances were many, but success was elusive. We all take chances every day – just like life.

A golf course is built on dirt, but survives on its reputation. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we usually open first and close last. And so it will be fore this season. It will be the second snowfall that signals our close – maybe. The Simulator will be active sometime soon after we close. You can always golf at Muskoka Highlands. And this is where we put our reputation. The ultimate compliment any course can get is from you – the player – your second (and third and..) round at the course. We thank you fore this.

Safety Hint – these temps are going to set up the roads for black ice. Drive carefully in the dark! The paving is getting done – yay!!

Membership Has Its Advantages

We are asked about Membership at Muskoka Highlands.

Here are our Laddies – just ask them how much fun it is to golf at the Highlands!

This year we brought in the “multiply your age x $10” and that is your membership if you are less than 27 years old. We have a variation on that for the next decade – 28-37.

We have a variety of Membership options fore you – and if there isn’t one that works, let’s chat. We are creative and like to cater to needs where possible.

Carts are not necessary on our course – we are a walking course. But there are cart packages available.

We are an 18 hole course – and we have to maintain 18 holes. When we are asked about our 9 hole membership being a bit more expensive, it is because we have to maintain all 18 holes for your to have the ability to choose to play the front or the back.

Not sure about how much you will play? Buy our 12 fore 10 pack – pay for 10 – get 12 – fully transferable passes – 9 or 18 holes, carts also.

Juniors and Youth – a great deal – up til you are 25, you add a zero to your age – and bingo – there is your membership fee.

25-45 – Muliply your age x $20 and add HST – bingo – there is your membership fee.

To be fair – we stopped there, because $30 x age over 45 gets a bit more expensive!!

Another Chapter Written in Muskoka Golf History

Mitch Guy put grease on the greens, pins in unusual and challenging positions, and the field of 78 headed out to play.

After all of the parking lot bravado before the round, Cody Dunphy and Josh Lynch posted a -4 to take the trophy and have their names etched in Muskoka golf history.

Congrats to all who entered the test – see you all at the Tombstone!!

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – weddings@muskokahighlands.com. We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
