Sitting on our deck last night, we remarked that everyone in Muskoka must be pinching themselves with this weather. For a forecasted cool and damp summer, it is doing not so bad – actually, darned fine! Another beautiful day starting cool and hitting a high note later in the afternoon. The overnight temp is indicating that we might get rain – and yes, the longer range weather radar shows a front approaching overnight, possibly hitting here at dawn tomorrow. But GBay might have other plans. Time will tell. If it gets here, it will be done within an hour, and the day will be sunny for the most part. Keep rolling Summer!
The Weather Network’s Summer Forecast and it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay and now the NorthWest meeting the warm air closer to us. We are benefitting from this right now. The warm wet from the south is being kept away by this cool dry northern push.
The Radar Never Lies!
Our opening temperature starts at 8C(FL7C) and will warm to 26C (FL 29C) in the afternoon and then back down to 19C (FL 20C) overnight. Humidity going back up with overnight temps.
The UV Index
The UV index is HIGH from sunrise to sunset.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be getting tired? No! Honey production should be strong.
The Weather Wizard (Soon to be Dog Guide)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – damp belly = damp grass.
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is LOW with the mosquitoes only able to appear at night. Even the deer flies are struggling to make their appearance – it is good entertainment watching Wizard try to catch them. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most winged raptors away from you while you are golfing!
A quick memory from April of this year compared to this week – 13 green – this is where we started – you will be amazed where we have come – and where will go with our greens. Mother Nature is a cruel partner at times!!
Bring a friend to golf – and if they haven’t played before, try the driving range for your first visit. Orientation and trial go so much better on the range. If you are not comfortable teaching them all of your habits that might not work fore you, then ask our pro to help.
Golf can be a quick walk. We play 18 holes in 2.5 hours on a normal day. If you have just a couple of hours, we have a 12 hole rate. Play early. Play ready golf – first to the tee, first to hit. If your ball is likely lost, drop one close to where it went into the long stuff and play on (adding one extra stroke for the hole).
Safety Hint – if you are in a golf cart, keep your feet inside the vehicle. If you like to drag your foot outside the cart, you just need to catch a toe on a piece of dirt – and wham – you will have a broken ankle!

Kubota North $200,000 ShootOut Fore Dog Guides
Muskoka Highlands’ staff and guests foster a Dog Guide Puppy from 6 weeks to 13 months. It is then a teary goodbye and the pup moves on to more formal training fore one of six skill sets from seeing, hearing to autism and seizures of various varieties as well as assisting those with mobility challenges.
We are on our 21st puppy. It is we – as the experience you as our guests give to the dog get them socialized to meet others without making a big fuss. This is a huge part of the training.
The other huge part is the cost – up to $25,000 per puppy. This is why we host an annual shoot-out – we believe in paying it forward.
Join us on Monday August 19th – have lunch, play golf, meet a working product from your work (Ellis now called Ancaster) who will be here to watch someone get another Hole In One for $5k – like Robinson Clark did last year. Click Here to go to the tournament site!!
