A quiet radar is always a nice greeting in the morning. As we saw yesterday, the unpredictable can happen. The cooler temps usually mean a reduced chance of serious rain. And the disruptive shower activity normally arriving in October is here now. And will likely play again on Monday during the day – not enough to push everything inside, but enough to need a rain jacket or umbrella on an intermittent basis. And then clear out for Tuesday.
The Weather Network’s Summer Forecast and it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay and now the NorthWest meeting the warm air closer to us. We are benefitting from this right now. The warm wet from the south is being kept away by this cool dry northern push.
The Radar Never Lies!
Our opening temperature starts at 15C(FL15C) and will warm to 25C (FL 28C) in the afternoon and then back down to 14C (FL 13C) overnight. Fall Weather arrived a bit early!
The UV Index
The UV index is HIGH from sunrise to sunset.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be getting tired? No! Honey production should be strong.
The Weather Wizard (Soon to be Dog Guide)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – damp belly = damp grass.
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is LOW with the mosquitoes only able to appear at night. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most winged raptors away from you while you are golfing!
Mother Nature can be a cruel partner and she was this past Spring – here is 17 green in May and August – great work crew!! The greens have really progressed in the last 10 days!!
We are 1/3 of the way through August. And out of another weekend we go! How will you spend your time? Exercise is a necessity for all of us. Golf is a great walk. Deciding later in the night? Book online. We will know you are coming. Coffee will be ready. Cooler weather means more walkable golf. And now is the time to play. The course is in full bloom, and the greens have finally recovered. The fairway bounces and rolls are back and that short drive in June is now an incredible shot when it finally stops.
Golf Hint fore today – Golf is great social exercise. Burning calories walking a few holes and chatting. Add in some aerobics swinging the clubs, and some stretching bending over to tee the ball or retrieve it from the hole after sinking a 30 foot snaky putt. Played a quick 9 at 630AM today – 1hour 10 mins – walking….yours to duplicate.
Golf can be a quick walk. We play 18 holes in 2.5 hours on a normal day. If you have just a couple of hours, we have a 12 hole rate. Play early. Play ready golf – first to the tee, first to hit.
Safety Hint – if you are in a golf cart, keep your feet inside the vehicle. You just need to catch a toe on a piece of dirt – and wham – you will have a broken ankle!

Kubota North $200,000 ShootOut Fore Dog Guides
Muskoka Highlands’ staff and guests foster a Dog Guide Puppy from 6 weeks to 13 months. It is then a teary goodbye and the pup moves on to more formal training fore one of six skill sets from seeing, hearing to autism and seizures of various varieties as well as assisting those with mobility challenges.
We are on our 21st puppy. It is we – as the experience you as our guests give to the dog get them socialized to meet others without making a big fuss. This is a huge part of the training.
The other huge part is the cost – up to $25,000 per puppy. This is why we host an annual shoot-out – we believe in paying it forward.
Join us on Monday August 19th – have lunch, play golf, meet a working product from your work (Ellis now called Ancaster) who will be here to watch someone get another Hole In One for $5k – like Robinson Clark did last year. Click Here to go to the tournament site!!
