200528 Purves

The Overview

It’s one sure thing about predicting the weather – it is unpredictable. We have 3 radar systems we watch, and none of them agree on the specifics of where and when it might rain today. They all show rain – if you are south of Barrie, have the hip-waders ready. But up in PSM, there are pockets moving about that might or might not hit your town or golf course. In any event, the rain will be light and quick. So a rain jacket and an umbrella are plenty of repellent for this.

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at 13C(FL 13C) under fluffy clouds. It will warm to 24C (FL 27C) in the afternoon and then cool to 10C (FL 10C) overnight. Hello humidex!

Winds – the winds are cruising from a northerly direction, down the Great Lakes and across to us. This might forebode a cooler stretch. Time will tell.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 5:33AM, Sunset – 8:58PM. Rate of change slowing as we reach the top of the curve for the sun’s height above the horizon. There are 15 hours fore golf in every day right now – play on!

Bug Report

The Bug Report – These warmer temps will bring them back out of the bush! The mosquitos are hitting high gear. But here at Muskoka Highlands, when the breeze blows, the bug goes.

Allergy Index

The Allergy Index is HIGH moving to VERY HIGH tomorrow as we dry out. Plants love this weather even more than we do so they spread their love to one and all.

UV Index

The UV index is HIGH in this light cloud cover. It will be a hot day regardless.

Course Update

The course is busy with players enjoying the freedom to move about an approved space. This will continue as you the golfer continue to observe our guidelines for safety in many ways. The juniors are out in droves as this is their happy place while their school lives are interrupted. The social aspect of golf has come to the fore. With the professional tours stopped, the focus on golf is clearly the public player – you. And this is long overdue.

We are starting to develop options for hosting golf events that will fund raise fore a community event. While the steak dinner is likely out of reach fore now, the playing of the event and awarding of prizes can be done on a flow through basis. Give Don a call at 705 646 1060 and we can discuss options. We believe the community cares about your commitment and will support you with the right options.

Are you of age less than 40? Ask about our graduated member programs. $10 per year under 26, $20 x age til you are 40. We know you need to keep some cash for living – so we have made this as affordable as possible. Call us – we will confirm this.

Determination and hard work will make you a better player. A lesson helps! Let us know – we have great programs from the beginner to the player.

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – weddings@muskokahighlands.com. We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
