Muskoka Highlands

The Overview

The weather today is one word – wet. It starts with a bang – a line of intense weather with lightning and thunder before 8AM. It will sweep from the West and linger over Muskoka most of the day. It will clear out overnight and leave tomorrow through the weekend with some nice sunny and warmer weather . This is typical Fall weather.

Pollen Index

The Pollen Index remains medium – as the golden rod starts to die back. The cooler weather will control the allergies. Those allergic to cold weather have already planned to move to warmer climes. Tis that time of the year.

The Colours index

The Colours index is MEDIUM-LOW with the tree canopy changing past its prime show in our area. THis rain will bring down the leaves. It is great to see the change without having to play in the fallen leaves – only at Muskoka Highlands.

Course Update

Golf is a game. It is as complicated as you want to make it. Or it can be just for fun with rules to match – yours. The various governing bodies want it complicated. We as owners want it simple – so it is more enjoyable. Sounds like life.

A golf course is built on dirt, but survives on its reputation. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we usually open first and close last. And so it will be fore this season. It will be the second snowfall that signals our close – maybe. And this is where we put our reputation. The ultimate compliment any course can get is from you – the player – your second (and third and..) round at the course. We thank you fore this.

Safety Hint – these temps are going to set up the roads for black ice. Drive carefully in the dark! The paving is getting done – yay!!

Membership Has Its Advantages

We are asked about Membership at Muskoka Highlands.

Here are our Laddies – just ask them how much fun it is to golf at the Highlands!

This year we brought in the “multiply your age x $10” and that is your membership if you are less than 27 years old. We have a variation on that for the next decade – 28-37.

We have a variety of Membership options fore you – and if there isn’t one that works, let’s chat. We are creative and like to cater to needs where possible.

Carts are not necessary on our course – we are a walking course. But there are cart packages available.

We are an 18 hole course – and we have to maintain 18 holes. When we are asked about our 9 hole membership being a bit more expensive, it is because we have to maintain all 18 holes for your to have the ability to choose to play the front or the back.

Not sure about how much you will play? Buy our 12 fore 10 pack – pay for 10 – get 12 – fully transferable passes – 9 or 18 holes, carts also.

Juniors and Youth – a great deal – up til you are 25, you add a zero to your age – and bingo – there is your membership fee.

25-45 – Muliply your age x $20 and add HST – bingo – there is your membership fee.

To be fair – we stopped there, because $30 x age over 45 gets a bit more expensive!!

The Tombstone

The Tombstone is Saturday November 2nd.

A novel way to find out if you are playing to your potential. You take your handicap, add it to 69 and these are the strokes you have to play the round. When you run out of strokes, you plant your Tombstone. The course becomes a golf-graveyard, and the humour abounds.

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – weddings@muskokahighlands.com. We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
