The Overview

Fall weather is anything but predictable. And there are 2 forecasts for Muskoka – one for north of tower hill in Port Sydney, and on for south of that. Just like yesterday, today looks clear. But we know what happened yesterday – rain and hail at times, all random. And it should will remain clear today until the wee hours of Wednesday morning when another front will try to rain on Muskoka. It will hang around much of tomorrow and into the overnight where the cold will bring snow between Burks Falls and Powassan. Cooler but still great out-door activity weather today. This is typical Fall weather.

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at +5C(FL+ 4C) and it will rise to 11C (FL 10C) in the afternoon and down to 7C (FL 4C) overnight. Jack Frost is watching Muskoka carefully tonight.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 7:33AM, Sunset – 6:31PM – Slowly we move to the shortest day of the year. Plan to golf before noon at this time of the year.

Pollen Index

The Pollen Index remains medium – as the golden rod starts to die back. The cooler weather will control the allergies. Those allergic to cold weather have already planned to move to warmer climes. Tis that time of the year.

The Weather Wizard (Soon to be Dog Guide Fore an Autistic Person)

The weather dog blew in from his morning patrol – wet feet. Today we take the long drive to Breslau where he will start his training to be with an autistic person.

The Colours index

The Colours index is MEDIUM-LOW with the tree canopy changing past its prime show in our area. It is great to see the change without having to play in the fallen leaves – only at Muskoka Highlands.

Course Update

Golf is a game that over 4million people enjoy at some level. Ironically, many head to the sunny south to play more golf than they play when home in Muskoka. This is truly a puzzle for many owners to put together. Just like life.

A golf course is built on dirt, but survives on its reputation. Our reputation is for great greens. And tough rough. Which we are cutting as we always do it at this time of the season. Amazingly, we find about 5,000 golf balls when we do this. Wide fairways, narrow roughs – we try to give a larger good target than the smaller tough target. And this is where we put our reputation. The ultimate compliment any course can get is from you – the player – your second (and third and..) round at the course. We thank you fore this.

Safety Hint – these temps are going to set up the roads for black ice. Drive carefully in the dark! The paving is getting done – yay!!

Membership Has Its Advantages

We are asked about Membership at Muskoka Highlands.

Here are our Laddies – just ask them how much fun it is to golf at the Highlands!

This year we brought in the “multiply your age x $10” and that is your membership if you are less than 27 years old. We have a variation on that for the next decade – 28-37.

We have a variety of Membership options fore you – and if there isn’t one that works, let’s chat. We are creative and like to cater to needs where possible.

Carts are not necessary on our course – we are a walking course. But there are cart packages available.

We are an 18 hole course – and we have to maintain 18 holes. When we are asked about our 9 hole membership being a bit more expensive, it is because we have to maintain all 18 holes for your to have the ability to choose to play the front or the back.

Not sure about how much you will play? Buy our 12 fore 10 pack – pay for 10 – get 12 – fully transferable passes – 9 or 18 holes, carts also.

Juniors and Youth – a great deal – up til you are 25, you add a zero to your age – and bingo – there is your membership fee.

25-45 – Muliply your age x $20 and add HST – bingo – there is your membership fee.

To be fair – we stopped there, because $30 x age over 45 gets a bit more expensive!!

The Tombstone

The Tombstone is Saturday November 2nd.

A novel way to find out if you are playing to your potential. You take your handicap, add it to 69 and these are the strokes you have to play the round. When you run out of strokes, you plant your Tombstone. The course becomes a golf-graveyard, and the humour abounds.

A Special Day In A Wonderful Setting

Weddings are a special day for many people involved. Here at Muskoka Highlands, we reduce that stress with attention to every detail.
But our distinguishing feature is our setting – both inside and out. The clubhouse is designed to hold about 85 guests and the picture shows how this can happen. For larger parties, we engage a tent professional to create a unique setting outside.

Do you want to feel the warmth of a timber-frame clubhouse? Drop us an inquiry – We will respond and we will work with you to make your day special.
