Snap – just like that we have dropped into the cold zone. And snap – things that were wet yesterday are frozen solid today. I am thinking there might be the odd power outage as switches freeze and trees fall onto lines as this quick deep freeze takes effect. A clear sky overnight heralded the return of the colder weather.
A big thank you to everyone who made the Santa Parade in Bracebridge this past weekend such a great and fun event in spite of the damp atmosphere that Mother Nature provided. It took a town to host this parade as there were likely as many people in the parade as there were watching! Amazing!
Our opening temperature starts at -11C (FL -17C) going to -5C (FL -9C) through the day into the evening.
The UV index might be back with clearer skies today. Don’t blink at that yellow orb – yes it still exists!!
The Pond Index sits at Dangerous. Ponds and lakes are still not safe to enter for walking or skating. Don’t bank on one cold night – it takes more than a week of this cold to prep the ice for travel of any sort.
Road report – the roads everywhere look black. But watch for black ice. There will still be moisture moving across surfaces – and this includes roads.
