The Overview

The ill winds are bringing in poor weather around noon today. Further south, it will be freezing rain. The roads in PSMuskoka look good, but the roads further south are showing reduced visibility. The transition to Spring has begun, and the tug of the weather forces will make for interesting times for the next few weeks. Wiarton Willie’s forecast is now close to reality – is he right?

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at -10C(-12C) and it will scoot up to +3C (FL+2C) in the afternoon and then slip to -1C (FL -6C). Perfect precip weather…
The ill winds from the SE at less than 10kph will dominate today. They will bring mixed precip to Ontario – with the south getting rain/freezing rain, and we further north getting some light snow from noon onwards. Tomorrow the winds swing to the West bringing random bunches of snow across Ontario. Being in the lee of GBay, Parry Sound Muskoka can expect its fair share.

Daylight Hours

Road Report

Road report – there is plow activity across Southern Ontario indicating the roads are still not perfect. With the snow and rain headed towards us today, this will keep them busy as we all need to travel for some reason. Many of the roads in the south-west show as reduced visibility likely due to blowing snow that was on the ground as well as fog that will naturally develop in these temps. Still time for careful travel.

School Bus Status

School bus report – no weather cancellations at this point.

Snowmobile Report

Snowmobile Trail Update – OFSC is reporting 24377 km of open trails. The warmer temps have closed some trails. It will be a wet day on the trails in the South. Maybe water-proof suits would help!

Ski Report

The Ski Hills are still in great shape. As we approach Spring, we can see that some operators are reducing open times, and some lifts are closing a well. It is best to check with your hill to get their conditions directly from them. Detailed info at onthesnow.ca/Ontario.

Course Update

There are 37 days til green grass. Golf is this close – the heart will be racing knowing green grass is around the weather corner. The rain today will knock-down the snow-pack and the sun will still heat through the cloud cover. The winds will be lifting the moisture formed in the melt to speed the shrinkage. Your clubs will know this and will want to hit a ball. Do you? Is your game ready for the golf season? We know you are getting restless to golf with your friends. The golf bug bite will continue to itch and needs to be scratched. While getting warmer, it is still not warm enough to get outside and play. Nothing beats a few holes of golf with your family. The hi-def indoor simulator is operating and ready fore you and your foursome. Or bring 8 and play a two-person scramble with 4 teams. Times are full today so book now for tomorrow! It is time to start getting the swing in shape fore opening day, or before you might be headed South fore a golf trip. Call the clubhouse 7056461060 to book your time.

The grass will be glad it has its snow covering in this chill. The melt has started to expose green grass. Old Man Winter got grumpy and decided to hide this grass – but this is only temporary.
