The Overview

The radars are ugly. There is a special weather statement for the freezing rain causing driving havoc. Power outages will be the norm as the lines accumulate weight and the adjoining trees snap under the weight of the ice. The actual rain/ice storm will clear through after noon today. It will remain somewhat clear until tomorrow morning when the snow hits and remains coming from the southwest until late in the day. Wednesday will see snow streamers from the NW. Welcome Winter!

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at -1C(FL -6C) and it will rise to +4c (FL -0C) in the afternoon and then fall to -2c (FL -7C) overnight. The winds will change driving the temp change. The radar looks like a Group of Seven painting today!

The ill winds are from East at up to 20kph til noon . They will then shift to the SW maintaining speed and continuing to bring in the wild weather. Tomorrow around 4PM they will shift to the west, bringing in the snow streamers.

Daylight Hours

Sunrise – 7:55AM, Sunset – 4:44PM. The day is lengthening by seconds daily – we have gained 43 seconds of daylight since Winter Solstice. The sun starts setting later – by one minute every day on average. The sun will rise about the same time. At this point, the sun will rise earlier, and set later through til June. Yay!

Road Report

Road report – The plows are all out. If there is a plow in a garage somewhere, there is a mechanic working on it! The roads will be tricky in spots – best not to travel if not needed.

Course Update

All sorts of excitement in the hood as a Hawk Owl continues to inhabit our property. A rare sighting!

Golf is infectious – even if Muskoka courses are closed for the next 102 days. But why wait for Spring. The hi-def indoor simulator is operating and starting to get some good play. The smiles and chatter all indicate a great time. Our simulator league has started and is ready fore you to join. Everyone plays one round on the same course every week through the end of March. Prizing, skins – the game is the same, but the walk is shorter. There is still time to join!

This freezing rain will be a wee challenge fore us to handle. But we are prepared and will work magic to keep the playing surfaces safe to grow in the Spring.
