A chilly start to a warmer day – we have lowered the weather bar to consider +12 warmer in May! The wind remains out of the East indicating more wet weather on its way. The chill indicates the cold line is not that far north of us and drops down overnight. The warmer temp gives us hope that the push from the south might be winning the weather battle. Today is clear of precipitation of any form and this is good. Tomorrow the warm keeps pushing against the cold wall to our north giving us more precip starting at 7AM and, as the farmer would tell us without any radar, quitting by 11.
The rivers and lakes are starting to crest and shrink back to their normal banks. The lifting of the state of emergency in Huntsville is great news for everyone downstream. Roads remain closed and river banks remain fragile. Caution is still top of mind.
Our opening temperature starts at +1C(FL -1C) and will warm to +12C (FL +11C) in the afternoon and then down to +10C (FL +9C) overnight. Warmer but not seasonally warm yet.
The UV Index
The UV index will reopen thanks to broken cloud cover today.
The pollen Index is low – but the flowers in protected areas are trying to bud. In a short time, the pollen will be released.
The golf course dries a wee bit today. It would be great to have double digit overnight temperatures – the ground is warming but the grass is not growing quickly enough to absorb this surface water. Recovery delayed. Let’s continue to hope for warm dry winds soon. Follow the count down to opening day here.
And they were asking fore the deer cart
Every year, we get these early players out looking for balls in the rough. Every year, they keep asking the same question – “When is the deer cart coming by?” .
