A cool morning for sure, headed int a great start to August. Sunny and warm. A bit of rain at night might be a nice touch Mother Nature – but we know this is up to you. The weekend is looking fantastic – the time to be in Muskoka doing outdoor activities in Muskoka!
The Weather Network’s Summer Forecast is playing out and yes it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay meeting the warm air closer to us. The unstable weather fore the summer months has missed us so far – it has occurred further south. We are now into August and the weather starts to change.
The Radar Never Lies!
Our opening temperature starts at 8C(FL8) and will warm to 25C (FL 29C) in the afternoon and then down to 13C (FL 15C) overnight. A bit cooler – back to comfy sleeping temps!
Into August we go – with the weather cooling ever so slightly!!
The UV Index
The UV index is HIGH from sunrise to sunset.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be getting tired? No! Honey production should be strong.
The Weather Wizard (Soon to be Dog Guide)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – damp belly = damp grass.
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is LOW with the mosquitoes only able to appear at night. Even the deer flies are struggling to make their appearance – it is good entertainment watching Wizard try to catch them. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most winged raptors away from you while you are golfing!
The Fire index
The Fire Index is back to HIGH in this hot dry weather.
A full burning ban has been lifted fore Muskoka.
The weather map shows yellow where red existed yesterday.
Please burn of necessity and carefully – your neighbours and your firefighters appreciate it.
A quick memory from April of this year compared to this week – 9 green – this is where we started – you will be amazed where we have come – and where will go with our greens. Mother Nature is a cruel partner at times!!
At the cottage for the week/end? Time to plan a round of golf with the gang. An early round gets you back before the rest of the crew are moving about. Deciding later in the night? Book online. We will know you are coming. Coffee will be ready. Cooler weather means more walkable golf. And now is the time to play. The course is in full bloom, and the greens getting better every day. The bounces and rolls are back and that short drive in June is now an incredible shot when it finally stops.
Golf Hint fore today – Bring a friend to golf – and if they haven’t played before, try the driving range for your first visit. Orientation and trial go so much better on the range. If you are not comfortable teaching them all of your habits that might not work fore you, then ask our pro to help.
Golf can be a quick walk. We play 18 holes in 2.5 hours on a normal day. If you have just a couple of hours, we have a 12 hole rate. Play early. Play ready golf – first to the tee, first to hit. If your ball is likely lost, drop one close to where it went into the long stuff and play on (adding one extra stroke for the hole).
Did you know?

Kubota North $200,000 ShootOut Fore Dog Guides
Muskoka Highlands’ staff and guests foster a Dog Guide Puppy from 6 weeks to 13 months. It is then a teary goodbye and the pup moves on to more formal training fore one of six skill sets from seeing, hearing to autism and seizures of various varieties as well as assisting those with mobility challenges.
We are on our 21st puppy. It is we – as the experience you as our guests give to the dog get them socialized to meet others without making a big fuss. This is a huge part of the training.
The other huge part is the cost – up to $25,000 per puppy. This is why we host an annual shoot-out – we believe in paying it forward.
Join us on Monday August 19th – have lunch, play golf, meet a working product from your work (Ellis now called Ancaster) who will be here to watch someone get another Hole In One for $5k – like Robinson Clark did last year. Click Here to go to the tournament site!!
Do you have a junior golfer?
We have clinics every Saturday morning (when it is not raining).
We have weekly golf camps for July and August.
AND they can join the many that have already joined Muskoka Highlands – just add zero to their age and add HST.
