The Overview

It is no surprize that the weather is not the hot topic of discussion in recent days. The weather is less bothersome when we are all thinking of keeping our distance from others until this Corona-virus has been handled with various means of stopping the spread. But we still need exercise and we would have had a real challenge last night as the winds tried to move us to Kansas. The winds today will be more of a breeze from the North. The only sign of active weather is in the Sault where a snow front stretches north of there and is headed East. We will be in broken sunshine this weekend. The roads in PSM are all clear. And the ski hills remain open – again – not a crowd oriented activity so likely safer to do. The snow mobile trails south of Highway 17 are all but closed, so the golf carts are getting pumped to be thinking of action soon. It will be a chill weekend to chill and let many things settle.

The Radar Never Lies!

Our opening temperature starts at -1C(-7C) and it will rise to +3 (FL+0C) in the afternoon and then slip to -12C (FL -18C). And down the weather roller coaster we go!
Today the winds continue from the NE at 22kph gradually slowing in speed to 7kph this evening. Overnight, they swing to the NE staying more like a breeze in the 7kph range.

Road Report

Road report – the winds last night cleared anything that might have tried to land on the roads leaving the plows in the yard (or Kansas – that was some wind!). They will likely rest all weekend. There is some active weather in Sault Ste. Marie – but that is as close as we will come to snow this weekend.

School Bus Status

School bus report – no weather cancellations at this point. And none until April.

Snowmobile Report

Snowmobile Trail Update – OFSC is reporting 11731km (yesterday 12991 km) of open trails. The warmer temps have closed all local trails, leaving the North as the spot to ride. We are truly in transition as the golf carts have nowhere to go either.

Ski Report

The Ski Hills are showing the stress of this weather. The little green dots show the hills that are open. With the extended Spring Break started, it is hopeful that it will be a good ski week. Skiing, like golf, is not a crowd sport. Even the lift line is manageable. Best check with your hill to get their conditions directly from them. Detailed info at onthesnow.ca/Ontario.

Course Update

There are 27 days til green grass – the chill is slowing the melt and this is likely good fore all. Golf is so close – the heart will be racing knowing green grass is starting to appear. And golf is not a crowd sport so it is a safe alternative in these trying times. Know your partners and you will be able to manage your environment.
Your clubs will know this and will want to hit a ball. Do you? Is your game ready for the golf season? We know you are getting restless to golf with your friends. The golf bug bite will continue to itch and needs to be scratched. While getting warmer, it is still not warm enough to get outside and play. Nothing beats a few holes of golf with your family and friends. The hi-def indoor simulator is operating and ready fore you
and your foursome. Or bring 8 and play a two-person scramble with 4 teams. It is time to start getting your swing in shape fore opening day. We will clean up the rust on your first swings as part of the deal! Call the clubhouse 7056461060 to book your time.

The water continues to flow across the course under the last of the snowpac. The sun is starting to expose the greens and they are in great shape. Stay tuned to our site for pics of the re-birth of the golf course – one that happens every Spring.
