Friday of the second loooooong weekend of the summer. And it will a wet one. We are tracking that storm front we mentioned yesterday and it is a bit delayed, but not yet defeated by GBay. The good news is that the heart of the storm is headed below Muskoka. It is looking to arrive around noon in western Muskoka, and proceed East at a slow pace. We estimate a 4PM departure time for this weather. But it will move at its own pace. The weather pattern behind is clear and sunny.
The Weather Network has released its Summer Forecast and it is a result of the cold weather wall in place going from Greenland, across northern Quebec and into Hudson Bay. Our cooler air continues to flow down from Hudson Bay meeting the warm air closer to us. This will give us unstable weather fore the summer months. But there will be lots of good times included – with some intense bursts coming through.
Our opening temperature starts at 14C(FL 14C) and will warm to 24C (FL 28C) in the afternoon and then down to 17C (FL 16C) overnight.
The UV Index
The UV index is medium today with partly sunny skies until the rain front maybe arrives. Keep an eye on the radars linked below – they will tell the ongoing saga.
The Pollen Index is high. The bees will be loving this. Honey production should be strong.
The Weather Dog (Replaces the Weather Stone!)
The weather dog came in from his morning patrol – Dry belly = Dry Grass – not enough rain to stick to him!
The Bug Index
The Bug Index is high with the blackflies and the mosquitoes both in season. These warmer temps have eliminated many as we played bug free yesterday. The breeze at Muskoka Highlands keeps most away from you while you are golfing!
Maybe the heat coming later this week will deal with the smaller winged raptors.
The Fire index
The Fire Index is LOW in this cool dry weather. It reflects the impact of Hudson Bay weather dominating Quebec and Ontario. This will change as we get into normal summer temps. The forest rangers in our area can continue to relax – still no sign of dry bush anytime soon.
A rainy day is a golf challenge. Some are up to it, many not. The course is getting back into its normal shape more quickly in this heat. Grass is an amazing plant. It responds on its own time depending on the weather. The weekend ahead will be great.
The Webers index is predicting a busy week.
